Civic Theatre – McPherson Playhouse [Project: 037-09-62]
Project material consists of three large folders of architectural drawings and other material pertaining to the renovation and addition to the Civic Theatre, formerly known as the Pantages Theatre (among other names), located at 3 Centennial Square in Victoria, B.C. The Civic Theatre project was one of many projects undertaken as part of the development of Centennial Square in celebration of Victoria’s centennial. The theatre became known as the McPherson Playhouse by city council on July 24, 1964 in honour of Thomas Shanks McPherson. Included are site plans; floor plans; elevations; section drawings; details drawings; roof plans; schedules; a photograph of one of the models produced of Centennial Square during its design; paint swatches; sketches; and other material produced at various stages of the design process.
