PublicPart of a collection of letters written by E.M. Forster to Sir Alec Randall. They concern, firstly, his trip to Rumania, where he stayed with the Randalls; a tour in France in 1928; and his journey home. Later letters include references to such literary people as Herbert Read, Harold Monro and T.S. Eliot, plus a mention of reading James Joyce's "Ulysses". He also refers to his visit to Africa and his sentiments about the Spanish Civil War and W.W.II. Most of the later letters are signed "Morgan". E. M. Forster was born in London. He is principally known as a novelist and was associated with the Bloomsbury Group, which included Virginia Woolf. Among his best known works are "A Room With A View" (1911) and "A Passage To India" (1924). Many of his novels have been dramatized. He also wrote short stories, drama, non-fiction and criticism. He died at King's College, Cambridge, where he had resided since the mid 1940s. His friend, Sir Alec Randall was with the British legation in Bucharest, Rumania, and was later appointed to serve in Rome. Forster discusses how it feels to be 80 years old.
