Letter from Peggy Guggenheim to Herbert Read, November 12, 1945
Part of a collection of letters from Peggy Guggenheim to Herbert Read. Guggenheim was an American modern art collector who collected many Surrealist and Abstract Expressionist pieces. In her letters she refers to artists she knows, including Jackson Pollock and Henry Moore. Her intact collection is permanently on display in Venice, Italy. In this letter, Guggenheim explains the exhibitions at her new gallery, mentioning Jackson Pollock and Robert Motherwell. She also writes about wanting to move back to Europe, her upcoming book, and an art show that threw out her bronze Henry Moore figure.
