- July 13 Wednesday To Nantes with Laura for her to renew her American passport: via Gr Bain de Bretagne, Grand Fougaye, Derval Nozay. By a headachy bus. Alan & Beryl bought provisions for us; & we more. The American Counsul, Cook, seemed lonely. Norman is engaged to Catherine at last. Café at the Angelus (opposite Anita's) watching dancing in the square. Soldiers paraded with torches a band & magic Japanese lanterns. Last day at Hotel: we have both lost our silver cigarette lighters: no other damage.
