Part of a collection of friendly correspondence between Sir Herbert Read and novelist, literary critic, and editor, Ford Madox Ford. In this letter Ford expands upon the benefits of having a novel planned out before you begin to write it, and mentions a novel of his own under slow progress. He also recommends "the simple life" for reaching literary maturity.
