Satirical film of settlers in Western Canada, composed of footage from silent western movies, photographs, and artwork. Some footage depicts derogatory terms and dramatization of the slaughtering of Indigenous peoples.Introductory intertitles: "This Film Approved By The B.B.G. As 100 Per Cent Canadian Content ... This is the Heroic Saga of Those Brave Men, who, in ther quest for new frontiers, Truth, Justice, and a higher BBM rating, helped to open The West. It's to these courageous yet humble men that we dedicate this film." Concluding intertitles.Reel: "How the West Was - CTV Promise to Get There (sp) Licence"
