Transcript
  • March 24th Sunday. A very hot day the first for a long time now. Sat about in the sun on the woodpile and looked at the white, brown and peacock butterflies in the rosemary bush. Further suggestions about Germany money: that Carl should go and spend it. Difficulties about getting things to Palma: almost everything is dutiable except jewellery, & that would be difficult to get out of Germany. Finally Gelat suggested that a Soller man should be made my representative & should buy me a car in Germany which could then be resold with about 2% loss. Also Carl might be called up. War-scare on island via France. Took Salamo to Lluchalcari. In afternoon locked up the house & went to bed: both tired. Wrote to Middleditch for statement authorizing List to pay me or my representative the money.
