- Jan 6 Friday Dictionary (F) Reading The War the Infantry Knew Second draft of a poem about love and Africa. To Montauban on bike: first time for several weeks: Russian billiards Laura going on with Herods. She wrote a letter to Chamberlain. A crop of jokes about Massa Montague & his negroes. It started some months ago when he was here: he heard some singing at night & the Commis at the farm – & said it sounded like negroes. Stripped Christmas tree: made a club out of mistletoe bough.
