  • Aug 22. Thursday. First melons from garden. Finished [Chapter] X of Almost Forgotten Times To village & helped the Fábrica family shell almonds. To sea. Tried to write rhymes for end of L's anthology poem: did a few Rest of Richards came from Mary. Went to Costa D'or (L & K & I) Beer & beefsteak & potatoes. French people about talking to English people who knew no French: never heard that before. Pasted 2nd copy of Richards for Karl to transcopy tomorrow. Paid Mary ?2 & a letter for the job. Very hot again.
