Transcript
  • Oct 31 Monday Dictionary in morning, and The Castle in afternoon. News that Margaret has got a job and that Methuen's have accepted The Left Heresy and intend to make it a low-priced book, to counteract Left Book Club. We went out at midnight to the Grove (David, Dorothy, Beryl, Alan, Laura & I) with the cats. The ghosts were remarkably calm this year. Finishing specimen definitions for the dictionary (Laura, Alan & I). Madame Perou gave us quince jelly in exchange for ours: she said ours tasted too much of the fruit. Hers was French – almost pure sugar.
