- July 16th Tuesday Men still at work on Entrada gauze-door, finished one in cellar too. Made green tomato pickle 5 jars, 3 bottles. No mixed spice; so put in cinnamon, pepper & mace & curry powder. Small pot for Posada. To P village to get sheep's head; to Posada with castor oil & lamp for entrada. Second draft of On the Other Hand (liquorice) which Mary typed. Prepared about 30 pp of Old-Soldier Sahib for Richa Mary to type. Checked Molly's Life, 30 pp. Bathed, Mary too came, found most perfect shell ever yet in Deyá. Boiled it out. Such difficulty about boat owing to spy-scare & not being able to build boat-house without sending to Madrid that decided to sell boat. Concordia has ceiling about to be placed; door opened, sides ready for plaster. Francisquito has bad impetigo. Letter from Curtis Browne that List has at least banked the money with their bank & awaiting authority from Divisenstelle to transfer to Curtis Browne's bank. From J.C. that he will offer L & A to H.S. if Doubleday have no interest in it. Ordered Apollonius Rhodius from Loeb. Worked till 2.3O, Laura finishing Honor's Life, I getting on with Molly's. Then to bed. Laura woke me up with a visit from Solomon & singing & jokes.
