ABSTRACT: Interviewee: Commodore Jan Drent 22 Nov 07 Interviewer: Chris Perry Subject: Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) in the Cold War Commodore Drent discussed the development of the St. Laurent class as an ASW platform and the government's policy that Canada become an ASW navy. Talked about the 'Checker Patrol' in the North Atlantic. ASW aircraft and the HMCS Bonaventure. Some discussion about the proposal for a Helicopter Carrier to replace Bonaventure and the HMCS Bras d'Or. Discussion on the Mulroney Gov't White Paper on Defence and NATO ship targets.
