Letter from Eric Gill to Herbert Read, October 31, 1940
PublicPart of a collection of correspondence from Eric Gill to Sir Herbert Read. Gill was a renowned early 20th century English printmaker, typeface designer, and sculptor. In this letter, Gill expresses his appreciation for Read's pamphlet "The Philosophy of Anarchism", but expresses the criticism that Read does not clearly distinguish between the "individual" and the "person". In the post-script, Gill writes that he is going into the hospital for a small operation and hopes Read will visit him. Gill passed away seventeen days after this letter was written.
