- July 31 Saturday. Shopping in Cranleigh Bought an octagonal china plate (1830-ish) for Laura with Robinson Crusoe & his Family on it. Gave completed chapter 2 to Karl to type – Karl better. Tooth aching less. Reading Sidonius Apollinaris . Laura at work on Letter book . Norman took us in a car to Guildford via Shere where I bought for 6/- a silver lustre sugar bowl & for 6/6 a flat steel instrument between a spoon & an omlette knife. I woke up this morning repeating: “ milliers des roberts qui se battent pour nous ” roberts in my dream meant policeman. Alan's Year of Damage rejected by Constable.
