- on top + holes through sides + ends for
air.
He keeps his records in 3 ways. A
day book is maintained in which note is
made of all noteable [notable] events + a record of
feeding, recagings, cleanings etc [etcetera] kept
A mating book. In this each mating
is given a number corresponding to the
page seriatim, + preceded by a letter
or letters to indicate the origin of the
animals thus a pair of Shetland
animals might be S85 while a
Shetland [male symbol] with a [Isle of] Mull [female symbol] would be SM86.
When a mating is discontinued + either
animal remated a record is made on the
new page. Thus S156 might be made
up of [female symbol] from 85 + [male symbol] from 86 + so
noted. Here all letters born to the mating
+ their ultimate fate are noted.
A litter book. Here all litters are
entered on sequentially numbered pages
Each litter is given a number consisting
of the mating # plus its own page #
thus SM86/105. + the individuals when
sexed will be given small-letter designations
ie. SM86/105 a [male symbol]!
When the young are used for making up
new matings they are given new numbers but
record of origin is kept. Thus S.M 250 might
be [male symbol] SM86/105a + [female symbol] S85b.
