feeding on each.
Jasper, Alta. [Alberta] Aug. [August] 12/43 [1943]
Examined sheep band at Miette Hot
Springs including a small band on the 1788'
hill East about 3 miles.
Composition:-
21 [female symbol] ad [adults], 5 yearl. [yearling] [male symbol], 1 3 yr [year] [male symbol] 1 2 yr [year] [male symbol] 8 lambs.
Elsewhere along highway E. [east] of Snaring
1 [female symbol], 2 2 yr [year] [male symbol]'s
2 4 yr [year] [male symbol]'s, 1, 8 yr [year] [male symbol].
Specimen [underlined]:- Adult [female symbol] without lamb. This ewe
was not milking but had borne a fawn [word crossed out] lamb
this spring. Apparently there are lamb
losses here of fair amount. Possibly
the rough + partially brush clothed country
here exposes the lambs to predator
loss. Possibly the concentration of
this band artificially induced +
maintained is responsible for disease
loss.
Measurements [underlined]:- 1550, 130, 410 ear notch 105,
shoulder height 970, girth behind shoulder
1140.
Pelage:- still much winter hair on
this + many of the other ewes seen.
Parasites:-
Nematodes in abomasum either in mucosa
or attached to mucosa - mod. [moderately] abundant.
One small abcess [abscess] in right lung.
