Mar. [March] 3, 1941. Beaver Lake, 1
Last weekend there were no frogs out
but after a week of warm rain I
today took 10 ad. [adult] R. [Rana] aurora. 2 pairs
clasped within 10 minutes one pair
was clasping when captured.
Grasp is axillary with nose of male
closely applied to [female symbol]s head just behind
eyes. Thumbs applied fingers free
+ partially extended. When first
grasped [female symbol] straightens hind legs hunches
body + ceases to struggle but
if [male symbol] gets proper grip she soon gets
used to him + behaves normally.
Mar [March] 9, 1941. No more egg [word crossed out] frogs seen today
but egg masses were in several ponds.
Mar. [March] 11/41 [1941] After dark took about a
dozen frogs in pond adjacent to
Beaver Lake outlet. Not calling tonight
temperature just above freezing, humidity
low.
