Wardens here are.
Chief Warden Dick Langford
" C.V. Nicholson - Leanchail
" J Tocher - Ottertail
W.E. Jamieson - Hector.
Arrived here yesterday + today
made a quick reconnaissance
of the areas traversed by the
various roads + fine trails.
This is a deep snow country -
with winter snowfall varying
from 10 to 11 ft [feet] at Field to
4-5 ft [feet] at Leanchail. None the
less elk are now wintering
along the flats bordering Kicking
Horse River below the Amiskiwi +
also a small band near Wapta
Lake.
There is however no sign yet
of much damage to vegetation
With the heavy snowfall + high
precipitation producing rank vegetative
growth much of which is buried
in the winter I do not see
much sign of elk here even
becoming more than a very
local problem - if that.
Near the western boundary
I noted some Aspen chawing
but even there damage was
