all browsed 90 to 98%, no fruit, aspens
all highlined, poplars highlined -
no aspen reproduction. Grassland
dominated by wild oats + a feathery
species, collected. Two other species
abundant - collected. Clumps of a
fine sedge in moist areas.
Some downy rye. Cinquefoil - shrubby,
also an herbaceous species, delphinium
campanula + lesser species present
in numbers.
Very low grass carry over.
In timber downy rye dominant in
more open areas elsewhere scattered.
+ pine grass dominant with grasses
7 + 8 abundant.
Patrolled gully on sheep winter range
N [North] of cabin, grass heavily browsed -
poplars killed above 18 ", very low
grass carry over.
This parkland beginning here +
extending down river resembles
that of the Bow Valley. It is an
elk wintering ground + the elk
range high onto the sheep range as
evinced by a kill with antlers ready to
cast + many shed antlers + many
droppings. Out number sheep droppings
3 to 1.
