- Carrot Creek. June 5-43 [1943]
the two sheep he found on the
trail but probably also the one I found
today.
Two coyotes here now - hunting
rabbits.
Saw 2 blue grouse + 1 willow.
Comment:- Wardens don't seem to have time
to get around their districts to become
familiar with the game haunts.
Minnewanka Cabin. June 6/43.[1943]
Left camp on Carrot Cr. [Creek] this morning
at 9:20 + climbed to the pass
in a snowstorm. On way down
found going bad with 2 to 3 ft. [feet]
of winter snow lying beneath
the new snow. Spent a hard 3
hours cutting out windfall on the
trail along the south side of the
lake + finally reached the cabin - in
the rain - at about 4:30.
Most of the south side of the lake
is heavily timbered with spruce,
pine + fir + is devoid of game
food.
The N [North] side of the lake is open
grass + rubble hills below the
crags above. The silva of this shore
features aspen, poplar, Birch, some
willow, white-bark pine, jack pine higher
