camp until 8:30 - 8 1/2 hrs [hours] on the
trail - Distance covered about 22

Most of the route lay through
timbered country with little feed

+ some moose are summering there.
Coming up the Southesk we observed
much sign of elk winter activity

The cabin is situated near
the lower end of the open
creekside willow + grass meadows
that extend over the pass. The
pass is visible from here. Rain
started about 7:30.
