of timber near camp this evening.

Saw 2 young bucks near cabin.
Indian head Cabin [underlined], Clearwater R. [river] July 10/43. [1943]
Have seen 4 [male symbol]'s + 2 [female symbol]'s here, coming
in to lick salt.
Moult:- All these deer are clear + in fine
shape.
Migration:- All work down the valley
in the fall. Move out of the park
down the Red Deer also + winter as
far up as the Corners. In the
spring the deer push away up
all these big valleys to the passes.
Kills:- Saw the remains of a kill
on lower part of Peters creek.

Food:- Watched a doe for 30 minutes
fed 15 min. [minutes] on Epilobium alpinum [underlined] + 15 min [minutes]
on Willow #5. Ignored willow #3.
Saw 3 does + 1 buck in the meadow thus
the pop. [population] here is at least 3 does + 3 bucks.
Breeding:- saw one doe today that had not yet given
birth. She is very fat + her udder most obvious
from the rear aspect. over.
