or tracks saw a few moose tracks.
In 1918 [James (Jim)] Simpson was in Brazeau
Basin + at that time there were
absolutely no elk or moose but
some mule deer. No caribou then
on Jonas or Poboktan.
Sheep were wintering on the grass
slopes within sight of Isaac Cr. [Creek]
cabin + on another kill on east
side of Isaac Cr. [Creek] 5 miles up.
7 or 8 rows on lower hill +
another 25 or 26 head 5 miles up.
Now moose + elk are
abundant, sheep possibly about
the same, goat had been wintering
on hills N [North] of Brazeau Lake Cabin.
In afternoon rode down to this
spot, most of the way through
a very dull stretch of pine + spruce
forest. Distance ridden 18 miles
Distance hiked about 5 miles.
Game Elk - 4 cows.
Moose - 1 bull
Kills: 1942 sheep 1
elk 2.
Cairn Cabin. Aug [August] 2/43. [1943]
Did not leave Isaac Creek until noon
One of our horses badly lame so we had
to pack a green 6 year old mare. An hour
later she hit a tree + proceeded to scatter
her pack. Lame horse held us up
