- Buck Lake, + that a few white tails
wintered there + at Kinbasket Lake.
[Warden J.J.] Meredith reports a very few white tail
wintering near mile 16-20 during the
last two winters. They were fed at
the Conchie [conscientous objector] camps. Also reports a decrease
in moose since the elk increased + a
spread of moose into the river bottoms
along the Columbia.

The burn near Sinclair Summit took
place in 1917 + was preceeded [preceded] on
the river flat by a small burn a few
years before. Along these flats
reproduction has been slow + the area
is growing up to scattered pines +
aspen, clumps of willow, Shepherdia
Amelanchier with spirea, viburnum + rose
in the moist spots. Further south
some 3 miles from the highway I examined
a mixed stand of fir + western larch
This open land is a good wintering
ground for elk + some [word crossed out] fair for moose +
has been moderately to heavily utilized.
There is about a 50% kill of seedling aspen
at 3' to 4' + a heavier willow kill. The
