Above that on the steepest face
of the slide is an almost unmixed
alder vegetation.
Moose have been browsing the
tall willows 85-90% - almost no
fruit, the alders lightly the
Rubus moderately, Lonicera heavily
70% (the two latter since the snow
went).
Winter browse in this valley
is almost entirely balsam with
a very little willow. The majority
of the willows are low growing +
covered by the snow.
Perhaps 6-10 moose spent part
of the winter at least in there.
Marten abundant. Coyote present
now - not in winter. Only
mammals seen 2 goat [underlined].
Grizzly digging conspicuous - digging
a pink stemmed pea vine.
Birds seen 5 Spotted Sandpiper
