#18 Joseph Williams alias
Murphy, Murray & [and] Kelly
Arrested by Constable Perdue
& [and] Palmer. Charged with
Burglarizing Porter's butcher
shop (where he attempted
to blow the safe) also the
Occidental Hotel & [and] stole
$13 100/00 in money, Whiskey, cigars
& [and} cigarettes. Morrisons Black
Smith's shop & [and] stealing
120 lbs [pounds] of pig iron from
Turner Beeton's Wharf. Also
a quantity of lead pipe
which he cut from under
sinks & closets at Porter's
Cottages on Douglas.
This man with two others named
King & [and] Smith on the night
of the [13th?] last broke into the
Flyer wharf baggage room
Seattle & [and] packed the safe
away & [and] stole a quantity of
stuff, Committed for trial
and elected "Speedy Trial"
and pleaded Guilty to all
charges. Convicted on Oct 25th
& [and] sentenced to 4 years by
Mr. Justice Drake.
