Arrested by Det [Detective] Macdonald and Clayards
Charged Robbery with violence.
On the night of the 14th Sept the two above men
went into the bar of the Western Hotel on Store St.
called for a glass of Beer, and suddenly told the
Bartender Peter Nelson to hold up his hands, at the same
time Leonard pointed a revolver at him to enforce his demand
The bartender complied and they went through him and the
till taking about $60.00 t hree watches and other minor articles.
The Bartender could give but poor description, but Det Sergt [Sargeant] Palmer
and Macdonald could, as they had interrogated theyse men that day
and had been suspicious of them. Enquiries were made and
it was ascertained that two men had been seen going towards
the Ferry Boat at Sidney on the morning of the 15th. A wire was
immediately sent to Chief Miller, New Westminster, with accurate description
that they were arrested when landing with the revolver and all the property

and has served sentences elsewhere aggregating 10 years
to our knowledge.
