We visted the Plaunt's dairy +
farm. Jack Plaunt presented
us with 2 deer skulls, One of
which as shot in Sept. [September] 1928
this was a large buck + in good
shape. It weighed 156 lbs [pounds] + dressed
at 122 lbs [pounds]. It has 3 point horns
with the back tine forked + a
spread of 16 1/2 inches.
The other deer weighed 98 lbs [pounds]
dressed. Was taken late in the
season + was in very poor
condition. It is a two pointer
with a small form on the
left rear tine. He states that
average weights for here are
Spike buck 75 lbs [pounds], small 2 point 95.
Mr Got [Noel Gott] presented us with a
single horn from a perfect
4 point animal with a large
brow tine. This is the first
of these we have seen here.
June 15 [1931]. Rain all morning and
showery in the afternoon. We
lifted all our traps in the
afternoon + skinned all morning.
In the evening went out after
bats but saw none - it was
too cold. In afternoon drove up to
Cherry Creek where we took two
downy young of blue grouse.
Took 2 squirrels.
