Mr [Hamilton Mack] Laing took Pair of Cooper Hawks [underlined] - I took Horned Owl [male symbol][underlined] at Loon Lake - Nothing in traps Sunny morning - thunder in afternoon - windy evening. May 11 [1930]. 20 voles in traps at Loon Lake. voles seem very scarce in the sphagnum on northern shore. Mr [Hamilton Mack] Laing took a [male symbol] + [female symbol] flying squirrel. [male symbol] much redder than [female symbol] with very broad tail (3"). Took 5 chipmunks on west shore of Kootenay river. 2 [female symbol] + 3 [male symbol]. [female symbol] both had foeti. Chipmunks very common among pine slash. May 12 [1930]. Bright day - very hot in morning Shifted vole traps at Loon Lake - set more flying sq. [squirrel] traps. Caught turtle + frogs. Shot [female symbol] Redwing + [male symbol] Groundsquirrels May 13 [1930]. Night cold - morning fog. afternoon bright sun - 80 [degree symbol] in shade. Lifted all traps at Loon Lake - I took [male symbol] flying squirrel ( very small + red) + a chipmunk. Mr [Hamilton Mack] Laing took juvs [juveniles] vole + Peromyscus. Examined prairie areas
