taken. 3 Red breasted [words crossed out] American Mergansers
seen. Varied Thrush.
July 18, 1936. Surel Falls, Big Eutsuk Lake.
Traps held 4 Peromyscus, 1
Clethrionomys, 1 Phenacomys,
1 Zapus, 1 Sorex obscurus. Saw
2 Chipmunks - very wild +
1 squirrel; shot a small
myotis.
Climbed slopes of Mt. [Mount] Musclow
for 700-800 ft [feet]. From the
lake the going looks fair but
the vegetation consists of a
jungle of green alder, devils
club, hellebore, a wild parsnip,
Salmon berry + willow,
about 668 ft [feet] high. There
were many bear trails
through this. + the dog
ran into a porcupine.
Musclow Lake is a gem
with Mountains falling
into it all around. There
are small patches of Balsam
Abies grandis + Abies amabilis
+ Mt [Mountain] Hemlock also an
occassional [occasional] cedar.
