- There is quite a lot of winter
work + last summers work
but the spring freshet or
some other force drove them
all to the higher ground
Monashee Pass, B.C. [British Columbia] June 27, 1937.
Today we went down to
McIntyre Creek + along the far
(west) side of the second
Lake. Here we found Pikas
numerous but hard to
obtain.
In a small juniper we
took the nest, eggs + [female symbol] of the
hermit thrush. A pair of
black headed jays + a pair
of three-toed woodpeckers
were much in evidence -
Water thrush were abundant.
On the east side, near the
head of the lake we
saw a large Hoary Marmot,
from its dark color + yellowish
checks, it is okanagana [underlined]
I think
No snakes seen, toads +
wood frogs abundant, hyla common
