Creator Transcript
  • Alces americana In the district about Ootsa Lake, B.C. [British Columbia] moose are abundant, frequenting particularly the swampy, willow covered river deltas. About the mouth of the Tahtsa river we on July 17, 1936 saw 1 moose, including a cow with twin calves. The trappers report that during the winter they find large numbers of moose pulled down by the wolves. In deep snow the calves frequently starve, as the older animals, breaking trail ahead eat most of the food + the little fellows are unable to obtain sufficient food. Aug. [August] 2 - 13, 1936 Indianpoint Lake B.C. Moose extremely abundant. Feeding extensively on ____ [line in text] growing in the water. Also on a submarine plant that has the appearance of a young lettuce.
