  • Turbonilla castama Carp. 3 spec. [specimens] in Brit [British] Museum. California 92.5.17.1-3. Spiral sculpture shows as a succession of pits visible in the vertical grooves (about 10 per whorl, but varying size). These occur in rows circularly so they are really spiral grooves that show only in the troughs between the vertical ridges. Color pale brown unmarked Almost 28 vertical ridges/whorl, each ridge about twice as broad as the trough between, and somewhat flattened on the summit. Grooves run from sulcus to sulcus across each whorl. About 5 spiral ridges on base, beginning well below the summit.
