- WHAT TO DO IF YOU ARE ARRESTED
If you are arrested, you have a right to remain silent. Don't
volunteer information to the police. press, or people in jail. You
only need give the police your name, address, and DOB.
If you are arrested on misdemeanor charges (less serious
criminal offenses), you may be "cited out" by signing a citation
where you promise to appear in court at a later date. By signing
the citation you are not admitting guilt, but you are promising to
appear in court at a later date. It helps to have a picture ID to
facilitate your release.
If you are arrested on misdemeanor charges on City property
(Aquatic Park is federal property), you may be taken to the Hall of
"Justice" at 850 Bryant St., an old abandoned pier on the
Embarcadero, the Mission pollce station annex on Valenda St. at
17th St., or the Northern police station at 1125 Fillmore St.
If you are arrested on felony charges, you w1ll be booked
into County Jail at the Hall of Injustice. You have a right to make
three phone calls after your arrest, one of which should be to the
legal # below.
Aquatic Park is federal property. If you're arrested on
federal property, you maybe taken to the federal building, or some
other federal facility. If you are charged with a more serious
federal offence (e.g. assault on a federal officer), you may be
subject to the new strict federal sentenctng laws.
Don't carry weapons, illegal drugs, address books or sensitive
political documents to demos.
