- Ambystoma macrodactylum [long-toed salamander]
Sept [September] 4/43 [1943]
Four metamorphosing individuals
were collected by Mrs. T.L. Thacker or
Hope in a cattle drinking hole which
was said to be "full of salamanders"
Specimens arrived alive and measured
as follows before preservation -
#254 (1) 54 mm [millimeters] - gills represented by stubs
255 (2) 47 " "
256 (3) 41 " "
257 (4) 50 " specimen with gills most
evident; also tail fin
In all the dorsal stripe was in the
form of a broad band of dull brassy gold
with indistinct margins + a central dark
line.
Hyla [tree frog] tadpoles were present + metamorphosing
at the same time.
