- Chrysemys picta [underlined] - Painted turtle May 22 [1941] Turtles were seen in 3 ponds near dairy farm at Osoyoos Lake May 23 [1941] In seining for fish in the first pond (Lakeside Pond) we took on [one] turtle May 24 [1941] Turtles were observed on sand bar forming shallow bay on eastern shore of Lake Osoyoos, 1/4 mile N. [north] of camp. Five or 6 turtles were taken in seining the bay for fish. One large turtle found dead. May 25 [1941] Several turtles of several sizes were seen in ponds + swamps along road along east side of lake toward border. No shells, or other evidences of nests or newly emerged turtles were seen. May 29 [1941] Walter Stevens, 2 miles N. [north] of Osoyoos, reports seeing turtle in his yard on the 28th; 150 yds [yards] up from water. Large turtles were observed in small lake by which we camped, north of Oliver. Several were taken. May 30 [1941] One turtle was seen squashed on highway 2 miles N. [north] of Oliver.
