- Thurs. [Thursday] May 29/41 [1941]
Picked up traps at 6:30 A.M. Two Microtus
+ 2 Peromyscus. Weather fair + promising
to clear. Broke camp + left by 10 A.M.
stopping en route to take pictures. Stopped
in Osoyoos + called at farm of Walter
Stevens where we collected scorpions.
Drove through Oliver + made camp
at small lake past [space left blank] lake on
side road east of highway at base of hills.
Showers.
May 30/41 [1941]
Weather fair + promising. Drove north passed
Vaseaux [Vaseux] Lake + through Okanagan Falls to
White Lake valley road stopping at White
lake for lunch. Search with no success
for thrashers. Collected Brewer's sparrow,
1 long billed curlew + 1 rattlesnake.
Also larvae of salamanders in ponds along road -
On way to camp, along Okanagan
river, [Ian McTaggart] Cowan took a chat.
Made seine haul in lake at camp
sight, missing one large fish (bass?) + taking
1 sucker, many perch + fry, also several
cottids. Also 2 turtles which we released.
Many bats out over water but failed to
shoot any.
Rained heavily in night.
