Alta Lake August 22, 1941.
Caught a young rabbit in a snare and had it
partially eaten by a weasel. A hole 1" [inch] wide
had been cut in the chest wall and part of the
lungs, heart and liver eaten. All meat had
been stripped from humerus and scapula and bits
of bone chewed from suprassopular margin and
segments of ribs eaten. It was a [female symbol] weasel.
August 25, 1941.
Caught another juv. [juvenile] female in same trap.
Stomach contained a mouse. Frontal sinuses
had nematodes 4 in left, one in right - these
preserved.
Dark part of pelage in process of growth or
molt. At least fur bases projected through
dermis.
This animal was still warm in the trap
(caught round chest) at 8 a.m.
August 30, 1941.
Large ad [adult] [male symbol] in same trap. Stomach contained
a few bone fragments and some hard pieces of
what appeared to be coarse muscle or tendon.
Sinuses infected with nematodes but no sur-
face lesions.
