- Blue racer
May 21-25 [1941] Tracks were seen in sand by [Ian McTaggart] Cowan
; presumedly made by this snake, in dunes
around Osoyoos area.
May 23 [1941] One specimen was taken in mouse
trap along lake shore, Osoyoos.
May 29 [1941] One was seen by [Ian McTaggart] Cowan behind
Walter Stevens farm, at Osoyoos. Colour was
even sandy brown, un-marked "[ditto mark under colour]. Stevens
reports most racers of this locality are
of this colour, though blue coloured snakes
used to be here.
A specimen of Blue racer was
collected by H.C. Dalziel, Okanagan
Landing and sent to the Museum on
July 2/41 [1941]
On the morning of July 18th [1941] five
eggs were found in that case (also containing
2 rubber boas). Eggs measured as follows -
1) 41 mm [millimeters] x 18
2) 44 x 16
3) 44 x 16
4) 47 x 16
5) 52 x 15
Eggs were placed in den with damp moss
at 11:30 AM.
