- March 3 [1942] The specimen of A. macrodactylum [underlined][long-toed salamander],
#635, taken at Savary's pond
was coloured as follows -
Ground colour - dark chocolate
Stripe on back fairly regular in [illegible word]
from back of head along most of tail; broken
up into a number of irregular spots on
top of head, few spots on sides of tail
Colour of dorsal stripe + spots - dark olive
green - not [underlined] conspicuous as in individuals
from interior.
Under parts dark grey - prominent dark
line marking abdominal vein. Numerous
white spots on underparts + on ides
+ on limbs
Costal grooves 10 (11?).
Mar [March] 5 [1942] Visited the pond in Rithets field
across road from Vic Goddards, for
purpose of making movies of frogs.
Heard 1 or 2 croaking, saw one; also
several bunches of fresh laid eggs.
Phyllopods fairly common but not [underlined]
numerous, as Goddard reported earlier
in the season. Copepods plentiful, also
red mites.
Released 5 or 6 frogs (1 clasping pair) which
were collected at Savary's pond two
days before.
