- 35 Covered Box
Qing dynasty; late i8th/early 19th century

This large covered box with gilded spiked
knob, is decorated with lotus flowers and
double-lined stems of various colours, which
give a pleasant but discontinuous effect.
The four character mark (Qianlong nian
zhi) in a double square, is engraved on the
base. The colours include: red, white, yel-
low, dark green, turquoise green, light
green, pink, purple, and cobalt blue, on a
turquoise-blue ground.

This vase, with lobed globular body is deco-
rated with naturalistic flowers and butter-
flies against an interlocking �T� pattern.
The neck and shoulders have geometric
designs and various flowers. There is a ruyi
pattern beneath the mouth rim. The colours
include: red, yellow, white, cobalt, various
shades of green, pink and black, against a
turquoise-blue background.
