- Black-necked Grebe.
Lac La Hache. July 19/48 [1948].
When we first visited Westwick Lake
on July 3 the colony on it had
fresh eggs, 2 nests of 2 eggs seen
+ none of them had young. In adjacent
Sorensen Lake the grebes had young
varying in size from newly hatched
to almost as large as the adults.
On July 16 at Cummings Lake
the grebes were similarly aged.
On July 19 at Cummings L. [Lake] we
found a young grebe dead. No
apparent cause.
Rush Lake. Aug. [August] 18/48 [1948].
In the trap took a [female symbol] + a very
small young - not more than a
week old.
