Red wing + yellowheaded blackbirds abundant
Several pairs of coots.
While sexing the ducks noted that
all the yng [young] buffleheads had a small
black protuberance mid-neutrally
on the proctodeum. This could easily
lead to the identification of the
[female symbol]'s as [male symbol]'s. This was absent on ad [adult] [female symbol]'s.
The young [male symbol]'s are distinguishable,
as soon as the secondary coverts
are out, by the greater amount
of white on them.
