- Thomomys.
Okanagan Landing. Aug [August] 9/49 [1949].
Took 4 ad [adult] + 1 young in
the exposed lake bottom at
Nicola Mines. On the Gibson
range there is more gopher
sign than I have ever seen
anywhere. About 50% of the
ground surface is covered with
gopher mounds on the lower,
badly overgrazed range. I got
the impression that there
were fewer on the better
covered ranges
At Tunkwa Lake I put out
6 traps for a couple of hours
+ took a very large [male symbol]. Sign
abundant in this hard gravelly
soil. This animal an even
duel, grayish brown, quite
distinct from the Stump Lake
ones.
In the field at [James] Munro's
have taken 2 ad [adult] [male symbol] + 3 yng [young] so far.
