- Translated transcription: Empty now is the beach where the Nordic Vikings came ashore and began their wild pillaging.
Empty is the spot where the three small mermaids waited long days and nights moaning in their mortal longing, waiting in vain for their friend’s return. It then happens that fishermen, drawing in their nets, pull in the lifeless bodies.
Astonished by the rare catch they regard the event as an evil portent. They know not what to do with their catch, which only fills them with fright.
The simple men know nothing of the mermaids, even less of their fate, and cannot be touched by their death.
