  • Translated transcription: Close by the great stormy sea is a half-sunken mound. The stubborn lyme grass and sea holly gather here and there on its ridge, waving in the breeze. For centuries it has lain here and for centuries its story has been forgotten. Generations have been born and generations have died, while storms have battered it and the farmer’s ranging sheep nipped the meagre grass at its foot. This is young Haraldr’s grave mound. Many a declining day Vébjörg has visited it, reliving her childhood happiness with her beloved foster-brother and embracing Haraldr’s cherished memory. The waves sing around her, wandering their eternal way towards the shore.
