- Goldstream Lake. June 13/40 [1940].
Weather etc [etcetera]:
Dull day a light drizzle off + on in
the morning with strong west
wind, clearing at 11 AM.
Census. Saw one doe at 7 AM. feeding
on burned area.
2 large bucks + a young
doe feeding on burned area
at 10:30. One of the bucks
showed hostility to the doe every
time she came near, Flourished
his head + rushed at her.
Moult. These deer are now red
in general appearance but
have quite a lot of the winter
coat still present broken off
short.
Measurements:- Doe 12 mos. [months] 2 perm. [permanent] molars,
third [word crossed out] second not yet fully pigmented.
First perm. [permanent] incisor.
Good condition
Weight 71 lbs. [pounds]
Measurements. 1320, 170, 420, ear 152
gland 3", shoulder 810.
Beds. Found several beds in the
open swamps for the first
time this year. Are these day
or night beds?
