spite of some light rain 3 days
back. Put up only 3 deer, a
buck + 2 not seen + shot the [male symbol]. This at 1 P.M.
All three were bedded down in
the dense alder thickets by the
lake shore + lay very close.
Weights. Buck dressed 74 lbs. [pounds]
Stomach + intestines 17 "
heart 1 1/8 "
liver 1 1/2 "
Stomach + contents 11 1/2 lbs [pounds]
Allowing 1 lb [pound] for blood this
fork buck (2 year old) weighed
94 lbs [pounds] on the hoof. It was
not fat. in fact in rather poor
flesh.
Stomach contents Approx. [Approximately] 40% willow, 55%
alder, remainder cedar, salal
+ unidentifiable greenery.
Sexual development. Combined testes had a volume
of 44 cc. [cubic centimetres]
Neck not begun to swell.
