  • Duncan. Sept. [September] 29, 1939 Parasites. 16 mos. [months] [male symbol] Heavy infestation of Oesophagostomum in caecum + upper end of large intestine. Lung worm in tip + free margin of left lung, not in right lung. Infected areas inflamed, raised somewhat and hard to the touch. Parasites are in the terminal bronchi. No leg or liver parasites. Setaria Cervi - a single individual. 3 Tapeworm cysts 13 cm [centimetres] to 10 cm [centimetres] in diam. [diameter] on great omentum. This seems to be the usual site, others have been found on the body wall, imbedded in the liver + in the lung. Lipoptena seen copulating while in flight. Winged + non winged individuals present on the deer. Not many individuals present - 35 to 45. One pupa found on back of neck. The lung worm + caecal worm are probably the cause of the heavy winter loss in this area.
