buck lay down head west in open at
base of arbutus, + chewed cud for 43 min [minutes]
once nibbling some huckleberry tips
without rising. Doe lay down
head east at 11:18 her bed was on the
lee side of a small bush, wind had
risen to a very gentle blow but
quite noticeable. A second buck
came in view over a rock bluff
at about 11:03 + fed slowly toward
the other two bedding down 200 yds [yards]
from them at 11:25 facing east.

10 min [minutes], then walked toward doe,
as he came close to her his hair

bed + moved off a few steps. Then
both fed slowly eastward along the
hill the buck bedding down in the lee
of a manzanita bush at 12:03 + the
doe in a similar situation at 12:15.
